Blog 70.!! The last blog

I have finally made it to my final blog of the semester! When my teacher told us 70 blogs before the semester is over with many of my classmates blew it off & procrastinated thinking that it would not be such a big deal. Little did they know that the end of the semester approached very fast making some people panic to try to get to number 70 by tomorrow. I actually appreciate that our teacher showed us how to set up a blog because it is basically informal writing to get your thoughts and opinions out, and also allow others to comment on your post. The blogs allow me to express my mind and talk about different issues any way I would like. With the blogs there is not a limit, you can talk about whatever you want and for however long you want. You are the author, so whatever you chose to put on your page is up to you. I can talk about anything without being questioned about it because this is my blog. I hope next semester my English teacher allow us to blog because I would like to keep in touch with my old classmates, and also talk about interesting topics to get other`s opinions.

Young Celebrities

As I watch headline news, I become so amazed at the young teen stars today. First it was Lindsay Lohan who has been sent to jail and rehab for her uncontrollable actions toward drug and alcohol abuse. It is so sad to see young teens who many children grown up watching on television disappoint them by doing stupid stuff. From the world`s point of view Lindsay has it all. The fame, the money, the looks, the everything, but she decides to not use her head wisely, and therefore engage in some illegal activities.

The next teen star who is in the new is Miley Cyrus also known as Hannah Montana. When I saw on the news that a video was leaked of her smoking something from a bong it really did not surprise me at all, because there were other rumors claiming she took nude pics and they were leaked on the Internet. I honestly think Miley may have leaked the video herself, because if you are surrounded by friends then they should not leak a video that could possibly ruin your career. Real friends just wouldn`t do it. If I had a celebrity friend I would not go around posting bad photos or videos. I really hope Miley gets herself together even though they said it was not harmful drugs in the bong, but the principle of the matter is if you have a lot of young fans looking up to you then you should not make yourself look negative in any kind of way.

College vs. High School

Today I had to take 2 final exams. One in Finite Mathematics, and the other one in Biology. As a result I am so tired, but I have to have 70 blogs, a final exam paper, and an online final done by tomorrow before 10:30 a.m. College life seems stressful, but it actually is better than high school. In college you take less classes which allows you the opportunity to have more time to study. College also allows you to set a schedule for classes that are convenient for you. In high school you have a specific everyday schedules that has to be followed, and you sit in a classroom for 8 hours a day. This is very tiresome compared to college. The average college class lasts from 1hr & 15 minutes to 2 hrs. When it comes to tests, college tests may be more challenging IF YOU DO NOT STUDY. When I first took a college exam I was shocked because I was expecting a hard test. The key is studying, and if you are determined to pass then you will buckle down to prepare yourself to make excellent grades.

Cam Newton wins the Heisman

Saturday night when they announced Cam had won the Heisman award I was not shocked at all. Why? Because one he is the best player in college football & two he deserves it. I am an Alabama fan, but I recently started to like Cam. About a couple of months ago Cam developed this cocky attitude saying he can`t be stopped and all that which made me dislike him. Even though that is true for now I felt like he should have humbled himself, and kept it professional. It was sad that his father was not able to attend the award because of the "pay for play" scheme his father tried to negotiate. I feel as if he dad should have at least been able to attend the award ceremony because he was banned to attend the SEC championship game when Auburn played South Carolina. Auburn has a bright future in January when they play Oregon for the National Championship. If Auburn wins the National Championship then that will mean two schools from the state of Alabama has won the SEC championship, has had 2 Heisman winners, and has won the National Championship two years straight. I will NEVER root "war eagle", but I will say I hope the best for the team.

Final Exams

As the semester nears its end there are some good and bad things that comes along with it. The good thing is that there will be no more school for almost a month. The bad thing is F I N A L E X A M S. Yes! Final exams. Some dread finals others do not because they were the ones who at in the classroom the whole semester and retained all the information, whether it was boring or interesting. That means that they would know what the final would consist of from beginning to end. As I am doing this blog post I should be studying for one of my finals tomorrow. It seems like I have so much to do in so little time. I have 3 finals coming up, 1 online final, and 2 papers to prepare for before December 14, 2010. It seems like a lot and that I will be stressed, but I know if I put my mind to it, stay organized, and keep track of what I have done and what needs to be done, then I will accomplish all the work before the semester is over with.!

Snuggie

As I sit in my room on this cold fall night, I realize that I am missing something that is very close to me. No, it is not a person, it is my snuggie! I decided to get up to look for it, and i found it at the top of my closet. My parents and I sat around and discussed the weather and the fact that it is not even winter yet, and I already feel the cold effects. Just yesterday I went to class and I likely froze. I had on a big jacket, gloves, long pants, and earmuffs but I still was cold. I am so thankful that I am in college and not high school because some of the kids would have to wait at the cold bus stop in the morning. Even though I had my own car and was driving to school while I was in high school, I would still see some of my classmates outside fighting the cold weather with big jackets and hats on. Once winter hits I know that we will starting a fire a lot especially now since we have a gas fireplace instead of having to haul wood like we did when we was at our other house.

World Aids Day

Every year on December 1 many music channels such as BET and MTV set aside a special day to talk about different topics surrounding HIV and AIDS, and all the many myths that surround it. Yesterday they talked about many ways you can receive the virus and many ways people THINK you can receive the virus. Many myths include: you can receive the virus from tears, if you kiss an infected person, if you hug an infected person, if you drink behind the same glass, if you eat behind a person who is infected, if someone sneezes or cough on you then you will get infected. ALL OF THESE MYTHS ARE NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!! The most common ways you can receive the virus is through: vaginal fluid, semen, breast milk, contaminated needles, blood, slob (2 gallons), and the most common way is UNSAFE SEX!!!!!!!!! The doctor that appeared on 106 & Park on BET yesterday made a good point when it comes to AIDS she said, "If you are pretty, ugly, skinny, big, male, female, heterosexual, homosexual, Caucasian, African American, Mexican, Latino etc U CAN RECEIVE THE VIRUS." This can be true because someone can have the disease, but you will never be able to tell unless they tell you. AIDS or HIV is very serious, but if you are infected you can prolong your life by taking proper care of yourself and the one`s you come in contact with.

1st semester is almost over

Since I started my first semester in college in August I did not anticipate it to end so soon. It seems like we have only been in school a couple of months, but the days go by so fast. I remember when I walked into all my classes on the first day, frightened, thinking how hard it may be because a lot of people say college is this or college is that. My older cousin who attends Auburn University Montgomery as well always told me that "college is what you make it". It may be hard for some, but if you are dedicated and put effort into being the best then college should be a breeze. As the semester is ending I think back to the beginning when I had my first test in each of my classes. I thought to myself is this really how all the tests are and if so then this should not be complicated at all. The hardest class was Finite Math, but yesterday I was pleased to find out that I made a 110 on my test. I was so shocked, and I  must admit studying pays off. All it takes is a little time maybe a hour or so to look over notes and familiarize yourself with the contents especially if the instructor has provided you with a study guide as to what will be on the test. I really hope that next semester is not hard either even though I know that something will come as a challenge.

Iron Bowl

November 26, 2010 was the day that every Alabama and Auburn fan has been looking forward to since last November when Alabama won the Iron Bowl. This year was a little different. Since Auburn has had an undefeated season and Alabama had lost two games this made the game very interesting. Unfortunately Auburn won, but it was still a good game. I was so glad that Alabama came out playing hard, and that the game was not a shut out. What made the Iron Bowl so interesting for me this year was the fact that I had an Iron Bowl party for a few of my close friends. We ate, watched the game, danced, and went bowling, and went out to eat. Later on that night my bestfriends slept over at my house, and we just stayed up and talked about everything. I really enjoyed my company while they were here, and can`t wait to do it again!

Thanksgiving break

Just when I was starting to enjoy a whole week of being out of school, I realize that reality hit and that I had to return shortly. I can say that the break was a fun break for me. Monday-Wednesday I was sick so basically I stayed in the house until I felt well enough to get back in m daily habits. Thursday I was back to feeling better so my family and I wen to Cramton bowl where Tuskegee and Alabama State University played in what is called the Turkey Day classic. Even though the team I was rooting for did not win, it was still OK because you can not win all. While at Cramton bowl there were so many people and so much going on. They had booths selling purses, food, Cd's, shades, body oil, jewelry, and many more items. It always thrill me to go downtown to see the set up. I can't wait til next year.

Footprints

Everlasting impressions,
The perfect lovemaking sessions.
Lost in love, I was, with you
But all the while, if only you knew
You planted seeds on my soul
That grew into vines that kept me and my heart whole
You walked right into my life
And a few years later i dreamed of you being my wife
As a matter of fact
I dint even know how to act
I did things that i would normally never do
Because i swore to God my life would end with me and u
Yet you walked right in and u passed right through
Now I'm left sweeping up the footprints left by u

This is another one of my favorite poems by Donovan White

A girl with four boyfriends

> FOUR BOYFRIENDS>>
> Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided  to see beyond the imperfections .>

>  Once upon a time there was this girl who had four boyfriends.>>
>  She loved the 4th boyfriend the most and adored him with rich robes
> and  treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but  the best.>>
>  She also loved the 3rd boyfriend very much and was always showing
>  him off to neighboring kingdoms. However, she feared that one day he
>  would leave her for another.

>  She also loved her 2nd boyfriend. He was her confidant and was
>  always kind, considerate and patient with her. Whenever this girl
>  faced a problem, she could confide in him, and he would help her get
>  through the difficult times.  The girls 1st boyfriend was a very loyal partner and had made great
>  contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she
>  did not love the first boyfriend. Although he loved her deeply, she
>  hardly took notice of him.

> One day, the girl fell ill and she knew her time was short. She
> thought of her luxurious life and wondered, I now have four boyfriends
 > with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone.'>>

> Thus, she asked the 4th boyfriend, I loved you the most, endowed you
>  with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that
> I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?'>>
>  'No way!', replied the 4th boyfriend, and he walked away without
> another word.>>>  His answer cut like a sharp knife right into her heart.>>

> The sad girl then asked the 3rd boyfriend, 'I loved you all my life.
> Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?'>>
>  'No!', replied the 3rd boyfriend. 'Life is too good!
>  When you die, I'm going to marry someone else!'>>
>  Her heart sank and turned cold.>>

>  She then asked the 2nd boyfriend, 'I have always turned to you for
> help and you've always been there for me.>>
>  When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?'>>
> 'I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!', replied the 2nd
> boyfriend.  'At the very most, I can only walk with you to your > grave.'>>>
>  His answer struck her like a bolt of lightning, and the girl was>  devastated.>>

>  Then a voice called out: 'I'll go with you. I'll
>  follow you no matter where you go.'>>
>  The girl looked up, and there was her first boyfriend.
>  He was very skinny as he suffered from malnutrition
>  and neglect, poorly cared for.>>>
>  Greatly grieved, the girl said, 'I should have taken
>  much better care of you when I had the chance!'>>

>  In truth, you have 4 boyfriends in your lives:>>

>  Your 4th boyfriend is your body. No matter how much  time and effort you lavish in making it look good, it  will leave you when you die.
>  Your 3rd boyfriend is your possessions, status and wealth. When you die, it will all go to others.
>  Your 2nd boyfriend is your family and friends. No  matter how much they have been there for you, the  furthest they can stay by you is up to the grave.
>  And your 1st boyfriend is your Spirituality. Often neglected  in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the  world.  However, your Spirituality is the only thing that will follow  you where ever you go. Cultivate , strengthen and  cherish it now, for it is the only part of you that  will follow you to through the New System of God and continue with  you throughout Eternity.

>>>  Thought for the day: Remember, when the world pushes  you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to  pray.>>>
>>>  Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It  means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections .
>  I hope this touched you.

Don't Be Fooled

We look at sum1, maybe even ourselves, & we see the external clay vessel. If it doesn't look like much from the outside..It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it. We see that person as less important than sum1 more beautiful or well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to fine the treasure hidden inside that person. There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, & if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the clay begins to peel away & the brilliant gems begins to shine forth! May we not come the end of our lives & find out that we have thrown away a fortune in FRIENDSHIPS because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people in our world as God sees them!!!!

This is one of my favorite poems by my friend Kristal Doss.

Paraphrasing

Original Way:
The twenties were the years when drinking was against the law, and the law was a bad joke because everyone knew of a local bar where liquor could be had. They were the years when organized crime ruled the cities, and the police seemed powerless to do anything against it. Classical music was forgotten while jazz spread throughout the land, and men like Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie became the heroes of the young. The flapper was born in the twenties, and with her bobbed hair and short skirts, she symbolized, perhaps more than anyone or anything else, America's break with the past. From Kathleen Yancey, English 102 Supplemental Guide (1989): 25.

Correct way:
During the twenties  lawlessness and social nonconformity prevailed. In cities organized crime flourished without police interference, and in spite of nationwide prohibition of liquor sales, anyone who wish to but a drink knew where to get one. Musicians like Louis Armstrong became favorites, particularly among young people, as many turned away from highly respectable classical music to jazz. One of the best examples of the anti-traditional trend was the proliferation of young "flappers," women who rebelled against custom by cutting their hair and shortening their skirts (Yancey 25)

As Kathleen Yancey points out in her book English 102: Supplemental Guide

Black Friday

Black Friday is the time of the year that I anticipate the most because this is when all the stores such as Wal-mart and the Mall have great sales on almost everything such as big TVs, cameras, camcorders, GPS systems, Ipods, and more. Every year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, my mom, my grandmother, my cousin, my aunt, and I have hit up the stores to take part in these wonderful deals.  For the past couple of years, my mom sat her eyes on TVs and that is exactly what she got. Last year I was excited because she bought me and Ipod touch in which I value today. This year she wants to get another TV since we have moved so that it can go in the den, and we will be able to watch it when the Iron Bowl comes on.

One thing I don't like about Black Friday is that every since last year and this year the Iron Bowl has to be played on a Friday because of an agreement with CBS. I really hate that because I plan on having a party that day, and I would have to rush to shop just to get home to prepare before my guests arrive. I already know that this will be hectic, but I also know that with my mom's help that I will get through with this.

Time to eat!

Every year around the end of November, many people will be celebrating Thanksgiving. It's a tradition that has been passed down from a long time ago, and is still going strong today. Many families have the traditional food such as turkey, ham, macaroni & cheese, candy yams etc. My granny is a great cook so every year, after we go to the Turkey Day classic to watch Alabama State University and Tuskegee play football, everyone comes to my house to chow down. My granny cooks everything from mac & cheese, greens, candy yams, ham, turkey plus many more food items. My mom has always cooked baked beans, while everyone else just brought themselves. It is a fun time of year because not only is Thanksgiving here, but Black Friday and the Iron Bowl is right behind it.

Girls weekend out

This weekend my girls Rashondria, Jessica, and I will crank up the car and head north to Birmingham, Al to hang out with some friends. It has been almost a month since us 3 have gone on a road trip as we call it, so now it is time to get back on the road. While in Birmingham we will go to see a football tournament, that some of our friends are playing in, and also go out to eat and socialize with each other. Every time we go out we always have fun so I know this will be like all the other times fun fun fun!!!! I am so excited because I love meeting knew people, and this will be a great experience!

When I feel frustrated

When I feel frustrated there is not much to do besides take a deep breath and think positive. Even though I try so hard to not let the little things bother me, they always seem to bother me the most. A couple of months ago we moved into our new home, and it was time to hook up the Internet to my new laptop since school was about to start in a couple of weeks. Thankfully our house was rewired for high speed Internet, but our modem was out of date. Once we got a new modem it was time to hook up the Internet. My mom and I though this would be a piece of cake, bu to our surprise it was not. We had to call the people on several occasions just to make sure we had it up and running correctly. I became so frustrated after the 2nd attempt that I gave up, and caught an attitude in which I really intended not to have. So I went to my room to cool off so to speak, but that was not enough. I then grabbed my Ipod and put it on shuffle so that a different variety of songs could play. This always help me to ease my mind when I am frustrated.

10 Things I am thankful for (God)

As mentioned in my 10 things I am thankful for another thing was God. I have had religion all my life because I was born into a family that was Jehovah Witnesses. I recently dedicated my life on July 3, 2010. I am thankful to have come to know God while I was young so that as I grow older I can teach others to come to know him as well. He has allowed so many positive things to happen for my family and I. In the organization there are so many positive people who are very nice all the time. The material things do not matter to me, but as long as he provides me with food, shelter, clothing, loving friends and family, and life then I can consider myself grateful. Thanking him for providing me with so many blessings would take my whole lifetime, but as long as I do his will then I know that he will be very pleased with my efforts.

10 Things I am thankful for (my parents)

In my last post I blogged about 10 things that I am thankful for, and the number 1 thing on the list was my wonderful parents. I am so happy to have them because in the world today I know that many of my peers have parents who have passed away or are incarcerated. Realizing this I learn to take nothing for granted. Even though my parents and I bump heads often at the end of the day I know that I can come to them for anything because they have my best interest at heart. I praise my parents for making sure that my sister and I maintain good grades throughout all our years in school. This shows that my parents really care about our education, and wants me to strive for the best. Once I made up my mind to attend college and major in Nursing, there were some people who tried to scare me saying that nursing is hard, or it takes a lot, and you will not be able to hang with friends on the weekend because you will be to busy studying. I then sat down with my mom who told me to not listen to what others say, and to see how it is for myself, and that's what I am doing. I am currently taking my prerequisites, and so far I can handle the things that come my way. If things start to get stressful then I know that I can pray in order have the strength to endure.

10 Things I am thankful for

1. I am thankful to have such loving parents to be there to support me in everything that I do.

2. I am thankful to have great friends that support me as well, and knowing that I can depend on them just as they can depend on me.

3. I am thankful for my wonderful boyfriend of 11 months because he brings out the best in me. He makes me smile and laugh and I am happy when I am with him.

4. I am thankful to have completed high school with honors, and go on to pursue my dream to be a nurse at Auburn University Montgomery.

5. I am thankful to have God in my life, because through him all things are possible!

6. I am thankful for the teachers at my past and present schools who have taught me to be all that I can be.

7. I am thankful to be able to attend college knowing that some will never be able to because of many reasons

8. I am thankful for waking up everyday because I know that God has a purpose for me.

9. I am thankful to be able to set an example to many of the young one's that look up to me or come to me in various situations.

10. Lastly, I am thankful to be surrounded around positive people who want to do something with themselves, therefore it will motivate me to do the same.

Bad Reputation

If you are into sports or watch the news regularly then you may be aware of the recent allegations that are surrounding Cam Newton, Auburn's quarterback. Just last week Mississippi State came out to say that Newton made arrangements to take money from someone in order to play for their team. Newton denied this, and now the NCAA is investigating the issue. The University of Florida has came out as well earlier this week to say that while Newton was at Florida he would be suspended for purchasing a college paper offline and also was caught cheating, which is not permitted in college at all.

Even though I am an Alabama fan, I honestly think that this wrong to bring up this information when Auburn only has 2 games left of the season. So if they do sit him out then it probably would not make a difference. This is very unfortunate because he is indeed the greatest player in college football, but this bad reputation could cause him to lose his votes for the Heisman trophy.

The Good Paper

I am so relieved and happy to know that I received an A on my profile paper. When the class first received the  assignment, many of us panicked because we had never done a profile paper before, others thought the paper would be a breeze because they thought that they could simply summarize the interview. Even though that sounded like the easiest thing to do, our teacher had specific guidelines that we needed to follow in regards to the paper. The first rule was to not summarize the interview, but to make the interview interesting by taking the interview and making the person we profile stand out in the view or thoughts or others. Once I picked my person I set up the interview and was ready to go. After the interview I learned a lot about the nursing field such as, you have to be determined and dedicated in order to be a great nurse. When it was time to write the paper I seemed to be stuck, so thought it out and just went with the flow. Halfway through writing my paper, all the right words seemed to come to me and I was able to make a good paper. Another thing to help me make the paper interesting was that I knew since I was profiling someone who I admire, that I had to make it interesting to them as well as others who read my paper. This mentality allowed me express my thoughts and opinions on my subject as well as obtain important information valuable toward writing my paper.

Medical Mistakes

If you ask many people in the world today "Are you afraid to go to the doctor?" many will most likely reply yes. Many are afraid of finding out bad news such as you have AIDS, or you have Cancer. Every year many patients are hurt by medical mistakes than hospitals ever acknowledge. The Institute of Medicine or IOM confirms what medical experts have long known: Medical errors kill more people every year than AIDS, breast cancer, or car crashes. The institute is trying to get the hospitals to prevent future errors, by encouraging the doctors to admit their mistakes. Doctors are scared to admit if they have misdiagnosed a patient because they fear that the patients will file malpractice suits, and malpractice insurers will drop the hospital from coverage. In addition to this medical experts say the individual doctors and nurses who are honest with their patient face the prospect of being ostracized by their colleagues or fired. It is also said that punishing the person, who has done something wrong, turns out not to be very effective at preventing someone else from doing the same thing later.

I feel that, no matter what the issue is, the doctor or nurse should tell the patient or patients if they have made a mistake so that the patient can be aware of this issue. It should not be about getting picked on by their colleagues or fired, because their job should be worth more than anything to them rather than listening to what others have to say.

Life Is Too Short

When each of us lay our heads down at night, we are uncertain if we will get up in the morning. We all know that this world is full of sin, and as a result, death follows. I came home yesterday afternoon, and decides to get on facebook. When I logged into facebook I saw a lot of my friends talking about someone was shot at a local club yesterday. The first thing I thought was what club is open during the day time when a lot of people are at school or at work? So I sent a text to my old classmate who knew the gentlemen well, and he explained everything to me. This young man was an owner of a local teen club, and will truly be missed by his friends. All I can think is that it is so sad to see an innocent individual work so hard to let young ones have their fun, and as a result of having a heart, he had to die in cold blood. I did not know the person, but it still hurts to know that a murderer is on the loose in a city that I call my home.

The worst meal

Last month my mom, aunt, uncle, cousin, best friend, and I went to this Indian restaurant called Bombay. My uncle is a truck driver, and delivers food to the restaurant, and suggested that we should try it out one day. So we did, and it was the biggest mistake of our lives. We aren't use to eating Indian food so everything down to the ice cream had a whole different taste from American food. Their chicken and rice were the only foods that I could stand to eat, but everything else I could not. One of the workers suggested that we try their mango ice cream, and we did. For some reason I was expecting the ice cream to taste just like regular ice cream, but unfortunately it did not. The Indian ice cream was sweeter than American ice cream, and I could not keep eating it. Later on that night my best friend, Jessica, called me with an upset stomach. The first thing I thought was that she was food poisoned, but no one else from our group was sick so we thought maybe that was not the case. Either way I will never eat Indian food again!

Determined!

I knew that once I walked through the doors of my first class, at the University I was attending, that college life would not be easy. With that said I was still determined. Many who went to college, and did not finish tried to scare me or persuade me to go to a 2 year college instead of a 4 year college, but only I knew what I should do. I love school, I love to learn, and I felt like being in college for 4 years instead of 2 would allow me to obtain more knowledge.

My desired field is Nursing, and I hope at the end of my Sophomore year I be admitted to the upper division of Nursing and become that nurse that I want to be. I won't be the first nurse in the family, but I will hope to be the many nurses that are in my family. This field will take a lot of work and determination, and I am ready for it all. I have loving 2 parents who will be there to support me through it all, and I know with their help and the help from God I will endure any trial that comes my way.

A great movie

This past weekend I was able to go to the movies with my mom, sister, auntie, grandmother, my cousin, and my best friend to see the movie "For Colored Girls". I must say that the movie was THE BEST movie I have seen in a long time. The movie was directed by Tyler Perry, who always direct great movies. Like all of his movies they each have a story to tell, and this one was no different. This movie is about colored women who endure everyday trials such as sleeping with different men, getting raped, getting abortions, finding out their husbands are homosexuals, and messing with men who are unstable and jumps from women to women. The saddest part of the movie was when the man threw his own children from the highest floor on their apartment building. This had such an emotional effect on the audience to where some stating crying, and had to leave out for a minute. I understand how painful it is to lose a child so, I knew what the people who cried felt like. I highly recommend this movie, and it will be recorded as one of my favorite movies of all times.

A radical pessimist's guide to the next 10 years

The future isn't going to feel futuristic!

I agree with Douglas Coupland when he says the future isn't going to feel futuristic, because
indeed everything is changing. When people think of the future they may feel something odd because it is very unpredictable. Who is to say what the future will be like? From what some have learned they may feel as if the future will be a good thing and some may feel it will be a bad thing. I also agree when he said the future is going to happen no matter what we do. The future will even faster then it does now. As he mentioned no matter what technology such as a new top-of-the-line cell phone or high tech touchscreen computer or laptop invited by someone will still be invented, and will dictate the future. That may be true because technology is already dictating the present.

Disney World

Back in April, for our senior trip, the seniors had the opportunity to go to Disney World, and I must say that it was so much fun. In our package we had to choose from 3 parks to go to. My friends and I choose Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom. Out of these three Magic Kingdom was the best theme park there. I guess it was because that is where they had grad night. Grad night is where some high school seniors from all over the United States come to Disney world and hang out with other seniors from 10 p.m. - 4 a.m. The singer Keri Hilson also performed and made grad night even more interesting.

The best ride at Magic Kingdom is called Spaceship Mountain. It is a roller coaster that is in a pitch black tunnel with the scenery looking like you are in space with stars. The best part is that you do not know when the ride will drop or turn, you just have to feel the way the wind is rushing. I hope to someday go back to Disney World and visit all the theme parks there.

Magic City Classic

Every year for the past 66 years Birmingham, Al has this huge classic called the Magic City Classic. This is where Alabama State University and Alabama A & M University come to Legion Field to play football. I had a chance to attend this event, and like all the years I have went I really enjoyed myself. However this year was a little different. AAMU, for the last 5 years, have beat ASU in this game. This year ASU pulled off the win and this made fans cheer, yell, scream, and shout. I am proud to say that I am one of those fans who joined the others to celebrate the win over AAMU.

The best thing about the classic is the "wave". The way the stadium is made its connected like a big oval, so every year a certain side or group of people start of the wave by standing up with their hands in the air and then it continues like a domino effect around the whole stadium for about 4 times. It is so fun once everyone join in. I told my mom this is the best part of the classic and I look forward to this every year.

Should violent video games be prohibited from selling?

Yesterday afternoon, like most afternoons, I come home from school and find myself turning on the TV to watch Headline News. My dad is a biggie on watching the news so I guess this rubbed off on me as well. This particular story came across the TV that do you think violent video games should be prohibited from selling to kids under 18? Many viewers voiced their opinions by saying they do agree that this should stop because, most of the violent video games the children play now-a-days, such as Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil, have horrific scenes where people participate in theft, murder, maiming, and hazing. This issue has been taken to the Supreme Court to stop the selling of violent video games, and if the stores disobey they will be fined $1000.00. That's a lot of money just for one video game. This goes to show that this matter is serious, and that most parents feel that what their child/children play when it comes to violent video games can have an effect on their thinking to where young ones around 10-12 years old may think it is okay.

I'm 18 years old, and I have a 9 year old sister. We both have played Grand Theft Auto, and found it very amusing. Now we don't even bother with the game anymore because it is violent, and I did not want it to have a negative effect on me or my sister.

The Perfect Vacation

The perfect vacation would be to go on a cruise to the Bahamas, Jamaica, or Costa Maya, Mexico, and spend 7 to 14 days. This would have to be done in the summer time preferably from May-August when the beach waters are calm and cool and the weather is warm. I have been to Jamaica and the Bahamas in 2008 and went to Costa Maya in 2010 while on my graduation cruise. I really enjoyed the nice people, and the beautiful weather. The scenery is different from what I see on a day to day basis. In Montgomery, Al we see big buildings, hospitals, lakes and rivers, but on the islands you see pretty oceans small buildings and many people walking the streets. The city we live in may seem overcrowded with people we see everyday, but if you are on the islands you can buy a nice condo and hide yourself away from the outside world. When I become an adult I hope to pursue my idea of taking this perfect vacation with my husband and children.

My most memorable house moves.

Since I was born in 1991, my family has only moved twice. The first time was when I was 2 years old where we moved from Cross Creek in Spring Valley to Woodley Park. I do not remember this move at all because I was only 2 years old, but I knew the new house in Woodley Park very well. When we moved to Woodley Park, as an elementary school student, I loved everything about the new neighborhood. I had the best neighbors ever and I attended Peter Crump Elementary where I went there from K-6th grade. My teachers were the best! Ms. Britton, my 1st grade teacher, was my favorite teacher of all time and to this day she still is. I also attended other schools while I lived in Woodley Park: McKee Jr. High, Baldwin Arts and Academics Middle Magnet, and Jefferson Davis High School.

In the middle of my Senior year in high school we decided to put our house on the market to be sold, and 3 months later our house was SOLD!!!!!!! I was so happy because not only would we be moving to a nice neighborhood, but this would be my first "memorable" move. Moving day was approaching and my family and I became so stressed. The saying "you do not know all the stuff you have until you move" is true. As soon as we started packing it seemed as if it would never end. We had a lot of stuff that we sold in our yard sale which took some of the things we really did not need off of our hands.

Our new neighborhood is in Lochshire located in Pike Road, Alabama. I love it out there. It is a well kept place to reside in, and out there our house is located in a cul de sac and the nearest neighbor is not close to us but a house width away. We have been in the new house for 2 1/2 months now and I am still getting adjusted because I'm not used to all this quietness.

Psychology Test 2 (update)

Tuesday I will be taking my 2nd Psychology test and I hope that I make a good grade like I did the first time. When we received the study guide for this chapters 5-8 I thought to myself that this would be a breeze until I started finding the answers to my questions. Even though it is a lot to study, I am convinced that I will pull it off by Tuesday, and make that good grade on my test. I will update once I receive my grade.

Once I walked in the class we all were wondering what we made on the test, but unfortunately we had to wait until the end of the class. When it was almost time for the class to start winding down she started calling us up one by one to show us our grades. I was the last name that she called, and I became worried. After looking at my scantron I realized I did well, better than I did the first time. I was so happy! I really love Psychology and my professor Dr. G. I hope when I take developmental psychology next semester my professor make it fun just like Dr. G does.

Perhaps if he sees me at the mall, a nice and pretty girl, loves to shop, very friendly, he wil love me at these great heights....

Discourse Communities

Whether we realize it or not each of us belong to different discourse communities. In our everday language, if we are speaking a certain way with family members & friends to simple things such as acronyms and video games we are being involved in a discourse community. Discourse Communities are very helpful, they allow you to know the topic of conversation that you and another person or group of people share. My personal favorite discourse communities are acronyms, emoticons, and sports.

When you are apart of the acronym community you have to not only know how to use acronyms correctly, but you also have to know exactly what they mean and be able to distinguish between acronyms that look and sound alike. When texting with your peers or people in general, acronyms such as TTYL, CUL8R, OMG, & ILY allow you and the person you are talking to understand that you are telling them (Talk to You Later, See You Later, Oh My God, & I Love You). That is what makes this dc so unique. A whole text message could be typed using all acronyms and if you are not apart of that dc you may seem lost especially if other people are sharing in that conversation.

The next dc is the emoticon community. This community also deals with texting, and is similar to the acronym community except in this community you use symbols. This is also another unique dc because a simple smile through a text such as - :) - can easily make someone's day or let you know how they feel. This is also one of my favorites because in this community you become very informed. You might ask someone how they are feeling, and if they are feeling well they might reply with a smile - :), if they are feelin ok, but not too well they might reply with a straight-face- :/, and if they are terrible or not feeling well at all they will reply with a sad face - :( -. That is a reason why these emoticons are helpful, because if a person constantly text and put a smiley face then they may be happy or if they put a sad face then they may be sad.

The last dc I belong to is the sports community. I absolutely love sports. In this dc you would normally find alot of guys apart of it, but there are some women who can be apart of this dc now. This community requires alot of knowledge probably more knowledge than the other dc's. When you are apart of this dc you know that when a team is playing football there are 11 men on the field at a time. You are also able to know that when a team gets a touchdown they receive 6 points and if they kick a field goal they receive 3 points. These are just the basics. If you really want to consider yourself apart of this dc then you must know past the basics such as who is the best team, the best player in the league(by name), the positions on the team (i.e. quarterback, center, runningback), what is a 2-pt conversion as well as a safety, an off-side kick, and a touch back. That seems like alot to learn, but its very good knowledge if you plan to be apart of this dc.

As I mentioned earlier dc's are very helpful and each of us whether we know it belong to many different discourse communities whether it is family wise, religious wise, or even a certain job it may be hard to follow this if you are not apart of that community, or you may be apart of the same community as I am which is the acronym community, the emoticon community, or the sports community.

Ahhhh!!!

If you look at the title of this blog the first thing that might come to your mind is that I will be blogging about something that I fear. Well you are correct. I will blog about what scares me the most, and that is bugs! I really hate bugs. Ever since I was little I have never been fond of bugs, especially roaches because they are so creepy looking. Recently some friends and I went out to eat at a local restaurant after a movie, and we normally go to this place a lot. This particular time we were in the restaurant getting our food, and out of nowhere my boyfriend spotted the hugest roach I have ever seen crawling up the wall behind us. My cousin then let out a loud scream, and we all jumped up very quickly and moved to another table because we were all freaked out. The manager of the restaurant then gave us a discount, but it still did not help with my fear of bugs!

Profile Paper

In English Composition 1010 class, our next goal on paper 3 is to find a person in the profession that we would like to be in and get interesting information on that field. Once I finish my 4 years in college I would like to become a Registered Nurse. This has been my dream for many years, because I love to help sick people and to assure them that while they are in my care, that I will treat them with great love and respect. My senior year in high school I was able to do clinical at Baptist Medical Center South which really made me stick to my decision. While in clinical I was able to work in different departments such as: pediatrics, new born nursery, neonatal intensive care unit, postpartum, cardiovascular intensive care unit, medical intensive care unit, Radiology, and sleep lab. Once I completed this I was 100% sure that this is what I would like to be doing within the next 4 to 5 years.

The person I am going to choose to do a profile on is Shirley Carrington or Patricia Gordon. They both are Registered Nurses. Mrs. Gordon works at Jackson Hospital and has been there for many years, but Mrs. Carrington recently became an RN and is working in Selma, Al.

Is football becoming a dangerous sport?

This topic is staring to become a big issue now for many. Just this past weekend in Pro football a lineman was tackled so hard by a member on the other team that he was left on the ground without movement. When the "injury team", as I call the people who assist those who seem to be hurt or injured on the field, came out it was apparent that the player may not be getting up easily as others may have. He in fact suffered a serious injury. He did not die but as of now he is paralyzed from the neck down, and had to have immediate surgery on his arrival to the hospital. It is unsure if he is paralyzed permanently or temporary.

When asked to call in and voice your opinion on the question mentioned earlier, a lot of callers said YES! They also felt like something should be done to these one's who intentionally use helmet-to-helmet contact in order to take down the opponent. The suggestion also went as far as to have the players suspended if they seem to still try to play rough on the field.

HLN (head line news)

Why is there so much killing? When will it all end? I was watching Head Line News today and a story came on talking about how an off-duty police officer, who was celebrating his birthday this past weekend, was killed..,Guess what it was over? A PARKING SPACE. Yes, sounds very weird but the suspect became mad and threw a piece of concrete at the police officer's head where he was later rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead. The suspect is now in jail, where he belongs, but is on bond which I honestly think he does not deserve since he took someones life.

Another story that came up on the TV was about how this lady's ex husband came to her work place at T-mobile and had a bottle filled with gasoline. He then proceeded to douse the gasoline on the woman, and then sat her on fire. The video they showed was very disturbing because you can see the woman in flames running trying to find water to ease the flames. As a result 2/3's of her body was severely burned, and she has had to go under a lot of surgeries and still has more surgeries that's needed. The bad thing about the whole situation is that just 2 weeks prior to the incident the lady was in front of a judge asking that he refrain her ex husband from coming anywhere near her. As a result the judge overturned her wishes, and therefore her ex husband was able to come around her and this was the result.

My opinion: I honestly think that the judge should feel extremely terrible, because if he had listened to the woman, then maybe she would be living a normal life today without burn scars. I can say no matter what the lady went through she still managed to keep a smile on her face!

Twitter

Friday was the first day I became a member of the 2nd widely known website called Twitter. Ever since I became a member of twitter I have not been able to get off. I use to be addicted to facebook, but now I hardly ever get on like I do twitter. I can think back to a couple of months ago and I said I would never get a twitter page because of the effect facebook had on me, but what do you know? My cousin persuaded me to get one and now I really enjoy it. Twitter and Facebook are somewhat similar and different at the same time. On Facebook you can update your status invite new friends, share pictures etc. On twitter you can do something we call "tweet" it's somewhat similar to a status updated except for you can tweet anytime you want. Another unique feature about twitter is that you can follow people. When you follow someone, their tweets and profile is availablw for you to see and you can know all of the updates by what they tweet about. This feature is so cool! You can even follow celebrities, and talk to them. If you are lucky enough they may follow you back or write someting to you so that the whole world can see. If you do not have a twitter, I suggest you get one because it is the next best thing after facebook.

Even though bama lost Im still roll tide!

As we all know the #1 team, Alabama Crimson Tide, fell to ranked team South Carolina on Saturday. There was so much fuss about the game, and how Alabama is now ranked #8, right behind Auburn #7. Once the game was over with all you heard was the fuss about how Bama lost and blah blah blah. It started to agitate me, but I still kept my cool. Even though we lost I still feel as if we are still a great team, and he will prove it in the games to come. Auburn plays Arkansas Saturday and I hope they lose so that the Bama fans can throw it all up in their faces like they did us.

The Library

Tuesday I went to the library with my English comp class, and I was able to learn a lot. When I was in elementary school we had what was called the Dewey decimal system in order to check out books, and do some research. I really did not get a chance to experience this system because I was always one of the ones to look up information on the Internet, because at that time the library seemed so boring to me and I just did not feel like sitting in a quiet place for a long time doing research. While at the college library on Auburn Montgomery's campus, I was introduced to something called a call number. We were asked to type in our discourse communities so that when we meet tomorrow we will look for books based upon our dc's. I have not gotten a chance to test it out yet because our class will get a chance to do this tomorrow so once I get through I will be back to blog some more on this topic.

What's up with Domestic Violence?

It seems like every time you turn on the television a famous celebrity or someone you may know closely has resorted to domestic violence. It's almost like a trend because it is so common today. Just a year or so ago the singer Chris Brown had to do many hours of community service because he beat up on his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna, who is also a singer.

Now another celebrity has fallen to this horrible lifestyle. I was watching the news last week sometime, and my dad brought it to my attention that the singer Mario was charged with second degree assault, and was released on $50,000 bond. His mother, who was known to have been a heroin addict said that her son shoved her around in her Baltimore apartment. It is so sad to see these celebrities do this because after the Chris Brown incident it turned a lot of his fans away from him, and Mario may be the same. When I first heard the story I was in shock because I could not believe that Mario would hit his own mother. This goes to show that it does not matter how close you are to someone, anyone can become a victim of an assault or domestic violence.

Tide Rolls over Florida

Any Alabama fan who watched the game this weekend will agree with these choice of words, and was also happy with Alabama's team performance this past weekend. I know I was; 31 to 6, and Florida did not even get a touchdown. Leading uo to the game people were saying that Alabama was going to lose, but I had hope in my team and I knew they were going to  I was so proud to see my team play the way they did, and that only hypes me up to when Alabama and Auburn play. I know that will be a good game as well, and I also hope Alabama come out on top!

The Alabama National Fair

People come from miles around from the farms and from the towns to where the excitement will be found at the Alabama National Fair! I love that commercial and since it is October the fair is a couple of days away. I can not wait. I love everything about the fair from the rides to the food. I also enjoy the entertainment. This years entertainment will be Baby face who is a singer. I'm not really amped about seeing his performance I'm just ready for the thrill and excitement the fair has to offer.

The students who caused a tragic death

After just seeing the abc news intake of the suicidal death of Tyler Clementi, 18 who jumped off of the gw bridge in New Jersey on September 22, 2010 as a result from his room mate Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei posting his sexual accounter with another male live over the internet, all I can do is shake my head. This story is so sad because classmates of Clementi praised him for being such a wonderful student and a great musician, and now he is gone. This tragic death has stunned the community of New Jersey. Ravi and Wei, the students responsible for posting the video have been charged with invasion of privacy.

Do I think this is fair? Yes, I do. I feel as if they should be charged with invasion of privacy, but not murder and have to serve life in prison. I believe the kids just was thrilled, and wanted to do something that they thought was funny, and turned out not to be so funny. I also feel that the two students should be kicked out of the University because this has brought reproach upon the school's name. If there is another charge that should be brought against them then it should be involuntary manslaughter. Also this incident with the internet may have not been the "push" to make Clementi do this. Something else was probably causing him to do this. I think cyber bullying is a big factor in this incident, and hopefully justice is served even though Clementi's family will never have him back.

Psychology Test 2

Homeschool

What do I think about home school? Even though I have never been home schooled I think that it is a good thing. Home school can be helpful to many people especially if they have certain circumstances that may not allow them to be comfortable in a big school. Some of the benefits of homeschooling is that you do not have to wake up early in the morning spending time debating on what to wear to school the next day when all you can do is stay in your pj's and have class. For people who have disabilities and are uncomfortable around a crowd of people may find this alternative very helpful. Many people may find home school boring, because they may feel like their social status will drop because they do not get to interact with a lot of people on a day-to-day basis which can be true. I highly agree, that if I was home schooled I would be so bored, because I'd have no friends to talk to when most of them may be in a big school.

Relieved (again)

Today was the 1st day in which I had my first Biology test, and to my surprise it was very easy. At the beginning of the semester my professor told us about the study questions that would be helpful to us on our test. I picked up a copy and began to find the questions immediately. After I found all the questions, I started studying because my test was soon approaching. The Unit 1 section contained a lot of questions, but I did not let that discourage me. I just took one section at a time and that is how I managed to retain the information. The test was 53 questions long and I thought the test would never end! When I first saw the 1st question I said to myself this test is going to be very easy, and indeed it was. They say studying pays off and that may be true. College life for me is starting off as a breeze, but I must not get too comfortable just yet. I still have 3 yrs and 3 semesters left. I will hopefully get my grade back Wednesday, and I hope to have a smile on my face when I receive it :)

If I was in charge of my old high school...

For the past 3 years, I attended Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Al. If I was in charge of my old high school there would be so much that I would change. Starting with the building itself. JD has been built many years ago so I would first like to remodel it in order to equip the new 9th graders that came along this year. When I was a senior the school was so crowded you literally had to walk shoulder to shoulder in the hallway just to get to your next class. Next I would have a faculty of teachers who actually love to teach and want to help the kids learn so that the child and the teacher can have a close bond. After that I would like to bring in a football coach who takes his job very seriously and wants the team to progress so that the football team can start winning more games instead of maybe one or two. That is would really give my school a good name. I would also try to keep my school clean and violence free, even though I know that is impossible, but it wouldn't hurt to try. I would have a better disciplinary system, and it would be that you MUST follow all rules accordingly and if not then consequences are to follow. Some schools have office referrals, but many of us know that they really don't cure the problems of bad behavior because some students would accumulate 10+ office referrals. Lastly I would change the days of school from Monday - Friday to Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. My principal, Mrs. Kostick, was a very good principal but I still think that I would do a better job if I was in charge.

Using Balance

1. Alabama scored a touchdown; my family were excited.

The defender blocked the kick; the field goal was no good.

The quarterback threw the ball; the other team caught it.

2. I wore tall heels and fell; the ground was bumpy and hard.

My favorite hills broke; down to the ground I went.

Relieved!

Today was the 1st day in which I had my first Biology test, and to my surprise it was very easy. It was 53 questions long and I thought the test would never end! They say studying pays off and that may be true. College life for me is starting off as a breeze, but I must not get too comfortable just yet. Lady Gaga aka Monster Mother

For us who know lady Gaga we know that she is a character and that she also seemed to have worn a dress made of meat to the VMA awards this past Sunday. I still ask myself to this day why she wore that and what was the purpose? Is she a vegetarian saying don't eat meat or does she really love plank steak? Hmmm the world may never know. This is not the first award show that Lady Gaga has looked so wierd but last years VMAs still topped this years award show. Last year she wore a bird's nest on her head, and had everyone talking for a whole year. I honestly wanted to watch this years VMAs just to see all the different outfits she would have on. Even though Gaga showed up and showed out she managed to steal the show with 8 awards! Gaga keep doin your thing.

The 2010 Iron Bowl

In 2 months the biggest game of the season will appear on television. For many of us who live in Montgomery, the 2 teams we prefer are either Alabama or Auburn. For me it is Alabama! On Novermber 26 they will battle it out on the field and I can not wait. Since I am a die hard Bama fan I decided to have a party for the Iron Bowl with my close friends. I really hope my team makes me happy and win so that I can throw how good we are up in the Auburn fans faces. So far both Alabama and Auburn have had a great starting off season. Let's hope Auburn falls and Alabama continue to rise.

Fall is almost here!!!

The favorite thing I like about fall is the fact that it is FOOTBALL season. I love Alabama's football team and I have been a fan for many years. All the things associated with the games like the food and great company is the best. The most exciting game off all season is when Alabama play Auburn. This is the game of the year because Ala has defeated Au for the past 2 years. I really hope my tide can pull it off again this season!

Love All Over Me

Back in her younger days the singer/songwriter Monica has always allowed her music to uplift females who may have been dealing with alot of problems in their relationship or the one's who have found true love. From her first album "Miss Thang" to her last album "Still Standing", Monica has talked about all the many problems relationship and life itself can bring. Her most recent song "Love All Over Me" has topped the charts, and has become my favorite song of all time. When I first heard the new song I really did not pay it any mind until last month when I went to Trey Songz concert in Birmingham, Al and she was the opening act. To see Monica "sang" and put her all into that song made everyone in the room move to a higher level of happiness and was the best concert ever. I am still so uplifted from that performance to the point where I can't wait until she comes out with her next single or another album.

Gotta have it.!

Everyone has had that time in their life when they have seen something so cool to the point where they really wanted it. I know I have! Every time the Verizon wireless commercial come on and they advertise the "Droid" I get so excited because I picture myself having that phone. I even beg my mom or say things to make her want to get it because the phone I have now is really starting to act up. The advertisement itself is very intriguing. It amazes me how a little handheld device can do so much, such as run the Internet faster than most computers, and it is all at the touch of your finger tips. It even has the capability to access Internet so that other users near by can connect to your device. How cool is that? I gotta have that phone and hopefully one day I will get it.

My Experience as a Clerical Aide

My first job was a clerical aide at the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation services located in Montgomery, Alabama. My first day of work began on June 16, 2008 and it ended August 8, 2008. If you are thinking that I was fired the answer is No. The job was temporary and only for the summer until school started back. I loved my job as a clerical aide because I worked with some really nice people. My mom and Aunt had been an employee there for 20+ years so everyone there knew me and that made the job a lot of fun. In my position I had to type case notes, which I really loved to do because I love to type, file important papers, answer the telephone in a professional way, and assist others if they needed me. This experience not only allowed me to see that I am a "people" person, but it brought great benefits. Being that I was a temporary state employee the pay was great. Mininum wage was $6.55-$7.55 and you work up to 8 hrs a day or 40 hrs a week. Once i received my check I felt as if I was rich because that was my first paycheck and the amount put a huge smile on my face.

In my younger days

In my younger days I wanted to be a neurologist (which is a brain surgeon), a teacher, and a cosmetologist. As I became older my mind changed, and a recent internship at a local hospital had me to set my mind on being a nurse. Now I am a college student at Auburn University Montgomery majoring in Pre-Nursing, that is my main goal, and I hope to fulfill that goal within 3 to 4 years.

My High School English Experience

My high school English experience was great. English has always been my favorite subject because I love to write. My most challenging years were my junior and senior year in high school. My junior year I took Honor's English, and I had a great instructor who made us seem like we were in college by giving us alot of work and novels to read. There were alot of great novels that we read, but my favorite one is The Great Gatsby. The theme, symbolisms, and plot is what makes the book really interesting. My senior year I took AP Literature. I must admit I was very freaked out when I was how thick the book was, but in the end I enjoyed the class. My instructor was very experienced in her skill and as a result I learned alot. My favorite novels my senior year were Othello, MacBeth, and 1984.

Have you read: So You've Got a Writing Assignment. Now What? by Corrine E. Hinton if so how was it beneficial to you?

As I was reading So You've Got a Writing Assignment. Now What? by Corrine E. Hinton it gave some scenarios that first time freshmen normally panic when they first receive a writing assignment. It gives helpful information such as to not panic and not procrastinate, because that will only make the work seem more stresssful. I also learned that while the teacher is talking about the assignment it is very important to listen and take note because you might even find out what you are expected to do as far as requirements and expectations. It brought out a very good point as to not procrastinate because the unthinkable could happen such as your internet might stop working or your computer might crash, and that could be a very serious problem. After reading the assignment it would be very beneficial to read it again and again in order to get a very good understanding of the assignment, and to also think critically which is a useful skill.
